If you need an application that will turn your PC into an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer, then you need to take a look at Zelscope, an application developed by K. Zeldovich. This application uses your sound card to present a real-time waveform or spectrum of the input. It basically transforms your PC into a dual-trace storage oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer.
The Zelscope installation file is quite lightweight, less than 1MB as a matter of fact. This is good news, especially if you have to contend with a lousy internet connection: it means that downloading the installation file will not take long. Run this file and a setup wizard will show up; click through the instructions it presents, and moments later you’ll be done with the installation process – Zelscope will be up and ready for use.
If you’re familiar with oscilloscopes, you will immediately feel at home with Zelscope’s interface. That’s because the application features the same interface as a traditional oscilloscope. From the settings menu you can change the colors the application uses.
As mentioned above, Zelscope is an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer software application. It will display the input as a real-time waveform or spectrum. This sort of functionality comes in handy if you want to tune music instruments, adjust audio circuits, do physics experiments, debug music and sound processing software. You have 14 days at your disposal to uncover and evaluate all the functionality Zelscope has to offer; once this trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using the application.
Use Zelscope on your PC to view a real-time waveform or spectrum of an input signal, be it music, speech, or something else.
Pros
The system requirements for running Zelscope are quite low. The application’s interface is a traditional oscilloscope interface. Zelscope turns your PC into a dual-trace storage oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer.
Cons
Free to use for a 14-day period.
